Brain injuries have affected many lives in the Sacramento region and throughout California through traumatic accidents. At the Law Offices of Moseley Collins we know the implications and suffering of those who experience such a tragedy. We follow them closely. In continuing my explanation of what a brain injury is, I would like to discuss some treatment options to you.
Brain injury treatment…
In general, most people who experience a brain injury will need to undergo some rehabilitation to regain some of the functions lost from their accident. Many people will need to learn how to do the most basic of skills, such as talking and walking. Time frames for recovery will differ according to individual cases.
My youngest brother, actually went through this possibility himself, after falling two stories and landing head first onto the tile below. In a coma for eight days, doctors told us that Beau would most likely need to learn to talk and walk all over again. By the grace of God, Beau did not need to do this type of rehabilitation. We feel blessed for having been so lucky.
Many people aren’t, though. Surgery is another option for people who suffer from brain injuries. The surgical procedure will differ from patient to patient, with options from removing damaged portions of the brain to draining blood if caught between the skull and brain. This, of course, will also determine the extension of the recovery period for each individual case.
There is hope in such a dire situation as this. There is always hope, especially when you can get proper counseling. Please give us a call if you or a loved one has experienced such an injury in an accident. We are here to help.
Until next time…
